City Walks

Not all walks have to be in the country side .....
Today we did a lovely walk on the city walls of Chester :)
Sometimes in the winter months when the weather isn`t at it`s best, alternative walks which are a bit dryer under foot can be a great choice.

So we parked in the centre of Chester and immediately were on the Chester wall walk.
As you look down you are surrounded by beautiful black and white buildings

The highlight of the walk was having our photo taken under the clock which straddles the bridge over the main shopping area

Where ever you choose to look out across the city the views are fantastic, none more so than the magnificent Chester Cathedral

The canal winds it`s way through the city and is a great place for boaters to moor up and enjoy the delights of the pubs and restaurants

And finally the hustle and bustle of the race calendar draws the crowds into the city centre to the famous Chester Race Course

Happy New Year 2013

Well here we are in 2013 .... Honey ,me and hubby wish you all a fab-u-lous 2013 :)
We haven`t traveled far from where we live to do our walks over the Christmas holidays, but as I have just taken on the Footpath Warden position we have enjoyed finding out and walking public footpaths and bridleways in our local area.
Today is no exception and we did a lovely walk from the centre of our village and headed north towards the Manchester Ship Canal.
The Manchester Ship Canal runs from Liverpool docks into Salford Quays which has recently become "Media City " and home to the BBC.It was built to carry goods from Manchester to the big docks of Liverpool and then across the world. We didn`t see any ships today but we may on future walks.

                                                                   jump for joy

We came across a lovely quiet spot on our walk, you can sit and contemplate and watch the world go by in a lovely tree and bird filled environment, and remember loved ones xx

And after a fabulous afternoon we arrive home to be snug in front of the fire :)

Thank you for visiting our blog and reading our walk tale

Merry Christmas

Well we hope you and your pets have had a lovely Christmas :):)
It is Honey`s first Christmas with us as last year she was still with her mum and brothers and sister.
Would Santa know where she now lives ??? you bet he did .....ha ha ha.

which one is for me ??

After a fairly lazy Christmas day it is such a lovely Boxing day morning we decide to have a walk to a local pub where on Boxing day every year vintage vehicles of all description and steam engines have meet up,it is a lovely sight to see and very popular with the locals and visitors alike.

So that's the Christmas pud walked off for another year .... I wish   ha ha ha ......
We just get home in time as it is now raining ,so feet up and watch a bit of telly we think ....

new voluntary job

Just in the last few weeks I have taken on a new voluntary job as "Footpath Warden " for the village where I live.
I saw the job advertised in our local newspaper ,and as I walk Honey every day I thought I would apply.
There are two of us who are going to job share the role, and as there are 47 paths to be walked we will be kept busy enough :)
The public footpaths and bridleways have to be walked at least once a year and notes kept of any problems which will have to be reported back to the borough council ,I suspect with my love of walking with Honey will mean we will walk them much more often and become a regular feature that people will be meeting along the paths.
I am looking forward to this new addition to the routine of my week, and to it making our daily walks more interesting by making them more varied without always travelling far from home :)
